YEAH Bob, years ago the Coast did have something to offer, but now it’s just another concrete jungle. You couldn’t pay my friends from down south to visit here. Merry

Stop the cruel pantomime of arresting violent offenders, prosecuting them and then giving them meaningless suspended sentences. It just causes unnecessary stress for violent criminals. Williamg

Something seriously and urgently needs to be done with regards to the Southport CBD by all levels of government. The CBD has been turned into an ugly wasteland full of drug addicts, criminals, ferals and homeless. I counted 15 people sleeping on the footpath outside of Australia Fair – there are drug deals and fights in the street, businesses are closing, the CBD is dying and has never recovered from the destruction the light rail caused. Despite all the froth and bubbles not one high-rise has been built in the CBD for more than a decade. The old hospital site and its development has been canned, the hole in the ground has been an eyesore for 30 years.

Heading back from Brisbane recently and being ex-Gold Coasters, we decided to have a look at all the new housing estates in the Coomera area, and what we saw was simply a multicultural nightmare with kids wandering the streets giving us the one finger salute. We couldn’t get out of there quick enough back to relaxing Tweed Heads. The northern GC is turning into a huge slum riddled with crime. Gary & Louise.

A big thank you to these wonderful people. Firstly to the 2 delightful ambos who drove me to Pindara Hospital on Friday night. Then the doctors and nurses in emergency followed by doctor and nurses who looked after me in room 69. The care and friendliness from these wonderful professionals goes beyond. They all deserve a huge thank you. Grateful patient.

So many males running around now with guns and knives causing problems! Public not safe. Time for judiciary to step up and show some decent, proper sentencing. BM. Southport

It really makes me mad hospital banning sugar drinks. Why do we all suffer because of a few who don’t care about their health. I’m middle aged, not overweight, very active and eat well. Sometimes I like a can of Coke now and then. gypsey. 66 The tram will make Burleigh a better place. Not hard. A rubbish bin could make Burleigh a better place. Ntherner

Reading about the struggles at Bond rugby, it appears the new coach can’t decide on the best number 10. My suggestion is to stick with what was working with Bernstein. Unbelievable some decisions these coaches make that jeopardise the team - P.O. S

Why should ratepayers have to have a rate increase when council is constantly giving themselves pay rises and waste money on signage lights?

Another school kid kicked off a school bus. How about the governments get together & give free transport to schoolchildren on school buses?

I’m wondering how many staunch Republican supporters accepted Queens Birthday Honours. It appears that ideology does have a boundary. GT I do object to my money going towards supporting public transport because you are slack to make sure that your children have enough money to get home. ET Robina

So the GCCC was to spend more money to fix the roads. Here is a novel idea. Fix the one’s out of the front of my house on Rio Vista Boulevard, sounds like traffic counters

Getting sick of reading how badly the opposition played when Titans have a win, they are always gutsy efforts. Give them the credit they deserve. 195.

Being a straight guy, I have only been friends with a few gays. But male or female, not one confided to me that at a young age they flicked a coin to decide their sexual preferences, they just played the cards the way were dealt. So if we are to believe a god created them this way, their best option to avoid an unthinkable afterlife is to lie about their sexual preferences. Oh, but I’m forgetting – liars burn in hell as well. Dave s

The person who suggested that magazines print blatant lies is spot on. A few months back, I noticed a picture of a lady and a cat on the cover of a leading mag, with the headline ”My cat dialled triple 0 and saved my life”. Can anybody top that?

When GCCC do away with all tip shops and scavenging rights in August, a massive mistake at the very least, what will become of the slogan recycle, reduce and reuse? Woodleigh
