Something seriously and urgently needs to be done with regards to the Southport CBD by all levels of government. The CBD has been turned into an ugly wasteland full of drug addicts, criminals, ferals and homeless. I counted 15 people sleeping on the footpath outside of Australia Fair – there are drug deals and fights in the street, businesses are closing, the CBD is dying and has never recovered from the destruction the light rail caused. Despite all the froth and bubbles not one high-rise has been built in the CBD for more than a decade. The old hospital site and its development has been canned, the hole in the ground has been an eyesore for 30 years.

Heading back from Brisbane recently and being ex-Gold Coasters, we decided to have a look at all the new housing estates in the Coomera area, and what we saw was simply a multicultural nightmare with kids wandering the streets giving us the one finger salute. We couldn’t get out of there quick enough back to relaxing Tweed Heads. The northern GC is turning into a huge slum riddled with crime. Gary & Louise.

Then the doctors and nurses in emergency followed by doctor and nurses who looked after me in room 69. The care and friendliness from these wonderful professionals goes beyond.
