INCREDIBLE FEATURES IN $13M SCHOOL BUILD
AB Patterson College’s innovative new learning precinct puts the student experience at the forefront of design
A RAINFOREST-themed playground, cafe and film studio are part of a multi-million upgrade just completed at one of the Gold Coast’s fastest-growing private schools.
Construction of the $13 million new learning precinct at AB Paterson College, was completed by Alder Constructions this week.
Named The Winton Centre, the project created 4500sq m of dedicated learning spaces with state-of-the-art design and technology, setting a new benchmark in educational precincts on the Gold Coast.
Alder Constructions general manager Dean Cheffers described the progressive facility as “a showstopper”.
“We have entered a whole new era in education, where innovative architecture is redefining the way schoolchildren learn,” he said.
“The Winton Centre is a prime example of what it means to put the student experience at the forefront of the design.
“AB Paterson collaborated with Burling Brown Architects and Alder Constructions, to deliver a unique, future-proofed facility and the end result is a high-quality, inspiring space that the students, teachers and parents can be proud of.”
The three-level building has been adorned in the colour palette of the Australian bush, with the first floor featuring a magical rainforestthemed playground, three pre-Prep classrooms, an outside school hours care facility, cafe and film studio.
The upper levels house a library, flexible learning spaces and 160-seat multi-purpose lecture theatre equipped with retractable seating, acoustics panels, and a fully sprung floor.
Principal and CEO of the college, Brian Grimes, said The Winton Centre had been designed to meet the demands of 21st century education.
“Modern educational spaces must address not only the academic needs of the students but also their innate curiosity and creativity,” he said.
“Innovative architectural design, cutting edge technology, and interactive learning environments are the way of the future and The Winton Centre will set a new standard for schools.”
