-

THE man allegedly responsible for a four-hour siege in Southport suffered two seizures while in the police watchhouse at the weekend.

Jaimie Madden was due to appear in court on Saturday but it was deferred until today after he had a turn and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in the hours after the siege.

He had another seizure yesterday.

The 29-year-old has been accused of carjacking three vehicles and threatening multiple people with a gun on Friday evening.

From about 7.45pm, Madden is accused of holding up three service stations in Southport, a taxi driver and stealing three cars before being surrendering to police just before midnight.

It has been alleged the father of two forced the taxi driver to drive to a fuel station on Ferry Rd.

It was there he allegedly smashed a glass door with the gun and made away with a sum of cash after threatening an attendant.

It is alleged he then demanded the keys to a Holden Astra and fled the scene.

At another service station 500m south he is accused of stealing a Kia Sportage at gunpoint.

Footage from the police helicopter showed a third car being taken at the intersection of Wardoo and Johnston streets. It is alleged Madden threatened four people with a gun.

The car was stopped by a tyre-deflation device at Nerang St, Southport, where the man is accused of fleeing to Freedom Fuels.

Madden surrendered a few hours later, just before midnight, with the help of police negotiators and a phone call with his mum, it is alleged.

Madden faces 15 offences including five counts of armed robbery, three counts each of wilful damage and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of serious assault police while armed, and one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle with prior conviction and unlawful possession of a weapon.
