GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ MARK MAZZAGLIA

-

WINNERS

Lady Appleton (Race 7) Nathan Day gave Lady Appleton a peach of a ride and she always looked the winner. Day settled her just behind the leaders and she responded well at the top of the straight. She was strong to the line and a stepup in trip doesn’t look beyond her.

Full Nelson (Race 8)

The best run of the day came in the final race. Full Nelson was flushed out wide and covered plenty of ground but still cruised to the lead. Penasquito gave him some cheek, but Full Nelson always looked like the winner. LOSERS

Speedycom (Race 2) Speedycom was well backed but never looked comfortable. He over-raced early and was never able to settle. He had nothing left in the straight and was beaten by almost six lengths.

Seamagic (Race 3)

Seamagic was one of the bestbacked runners and let punters down badly. Glen Colless gave her a lovely run and she looked set to pounce at the 300m mark, but she was left flat-footed and could only battle her way into the placings late.

Lulu Express (Race 5)

It wasn’t the best day for the Edmonds stable at the Gold Coast and Lulu Express also produced a fairly flat effort as favourite. She wasn’t beaten by far, but she never really looked like a winning chance. It would not surprise to see her sent to the spelling paddock. NEXT TIME

Icelander (Race 4)

There was plenty to like about Icelander. Glen Colless took him to the front early and he looked like winning when Missile Strike cruised up to him at the top of the straight. He wouldn’t go away and Missile Strike needed the entire straight to win.

Prince Duporth (Race 4) Very little went right for Prince Duporth and you can put the pen through this run. He began awkwardly after making contact with a barrier partition and he was then caught three wide for the majority of the race. He did well to finish as close as he did.
