New pool hall plan on Orchid

RETIRED champion snooker player turned Gold Coast nightclub and bar boss Craig Duffy has plans to open a pool hall on the Glitter Strip.

Mr Duffy has filed a development application with the Gold Coast City Council to open the new venue. It would be built in the basement of the seven-storey Ocean Pacifique tower on Surfers Paradise’s party and restaurant strip Orchid Ave.

Mr Duffy, the man behind Hollywood Showgirls strip club and The Tipsy Pig live music bar underneath it, plans to renovate the basement space to create the 533sq m space, which will be accessible by a stairwell and lift.

According to the it will contain:

● An “entertainment lounge”

● Up to seven pool tables

● A bar

● A seating area for patrons. application,

The nightclub is intended to operate between the hours of 10am and 5am seven days a week.

Before entering hospitality, Mr Duffy travelled the world as a professional pool and snooker player, racking up Australian and international titles.

It is just the latest new nightspot planned for Orchid Ave.
