TODAY: SSE groundswel­l slowly abates. Far northern NSW: Consistent 5 to 6ft+ sets exposed open and south-facing breaks, settling towards 4 to 5ft the afternoon. Wrapping at 3 to 5ft along open beaches with size depending on exposure. Southern Qld: Wrapping at 3 to 4ft+ along exposed breaks, grading to 2 to 3ft along open beaches and smaller elsewhere. WIND: SSW 10 to 20 knots inshore, tending Southerly, SSE 15 to 25 knots during the day, easing in the late afternoon.

TOMORROW: Reinforcin­g SE swell gradually eases under early offshore winds. Far northern NSW: Around 3 to 5ft exposed open and south-facing breaks, easing to 3 to 4ft in the afternoon. Southern Qld: Wrapping at 2 to 3ft+ across exposed beaches, smaller elsewhere and easing into the afternoon. WIND: Variable WSW, SSW/SSE 5 to 10 knots, tending light SE to ESE during the day, then NE in the afternoon.

FRIDAY: Leftover SE swell combines with underlying Southerly groundswel­l. Far northern NSW: Ranging from 2 to 3ft+ exposed open and south-facing beaches, more like 1 to 3ft elsewhere with size depending on exposure. Southern Qld: Ranging from 2 to 3ft along exposed beaches, 2ft along open beaches and smaller along the points. WIND: Early light Westerly, tending to SE/ESE sea-breezes 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

SATURDAY: Residual SE and South swells superseded by rising South swell in the afternoon. Far northern NSW: Up to 2ft+ exposed coasts, bumping up in the afternoon. Southern Qld: Around 1 to 2ft along exposed open beaches, picking up towards 2 to 3ft in the afternoon tiny or virtually flat elsewhere. WIND: Westerly, WSW 5 to 15 knots, tending SE to NE 10 to 15 knots, potentiall­y shifting SSE in the afternoon.

SUNDAY: Potential for large Southerly swell picks up. Far northern NSW: Speculativ­ely 2 to 3ft+ south-facing breaks rising to 3 to 4ft+. Southern Qld: Speculativ­ely 1 to 2ft+ along exposed beaches early, rising to 2 to 3ft. WIND: Early light WSW to WNW landbreeze­s 5 to 10 knots, tending NNE and freshening to 10 to 20 knots in the afternoon.
