I know the majority of the public are against a 2032 Olympic bid for SEQ. However, if the IOC throw in nearly $3 billion to make it cost neutral so we can break even and get muchneeded infrastructure fast tracked, what’s wrong with that? The problem is can you trust the State Government to deliver everything needed for SEQ without budget blowouts when they quote $100 million for an exit ramp on the M1. In that case they better ask the IOC for $30 billion not just 3.

There are some dead set grubs around. To the lady who threw out her crab pot bait on the beach near Quota Park on Marine Pde on Wednesday am. Please consider there are other people who swim and use this beach who don’t want to be stepping on fish heads and what not. Dispose of your bait in one of the bins provided.

What a heartless remark from a barrister in saying convicted drugged-up driver Jason Souter has not seen his son since his accident. How about the parents of the lady killed? Her parents have lost their daughter for ever. A.R

Rick, Dr Peter Ridd’s unlawful dismissal had everything to do with climate science. It was his research that raised questions over the universities science proving it to be sensationalised and non factual. Glad he won his case. Bourkey

When travelling overseas we find it much easier to get a taxi & be dropped at the hotel than wrestling with luggage on public transport & then walking to our hotel from the stop. Many tourists arriving at GC Airport I think will do the same esp as we are a family destination & with kids, tiredness, luggage & the cost & time for a light rail trip, a taxi will always be an easier & more cost effective

option for probably 2 or more people. 17 minutes has been quoted just to get from Broadbeach to Burleigh so how long to get to Surfers from the airport? Just saying.

Wot! Another “eyesore” of a Games village. Qld does not have any use 4 the Olympics when we can’t look after our aged, children in foster care, hospitals, homeless, farmers, victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, people with mental health issues, fire victims, drought. The list is endless & I’m sick 2 death of those in Govt only wanting to “feather their own nests” & bugger anyone who is not privileged. Old Codja

Regarding the teenagers who started a bushfire, they will get off scot free because of their age and our weak justice system. Australia should take notice

of Singapore where their punishment is public whipping! Don’t think anyone will break the law ever again here if this happened to them. Bring it on!! Burleigh pensioner

Aren’t we lucky that one of our very own “sandpaper cheats” – Steve Smith, wasn’t “punished” otherwise we may not have won the Ashes. Not so proud Aussie.

Earlier in Chatroom a reader asked “What can we do to help our friends in the hills” re fires? Please ring Lifeline, Red Cross or Salvos and ask what’s needed: money or supplies. I’m very surprised/annoyed fundraising has not begun. Ma

What was Anna and her crew doing on Europe talking about staging the Olympics, it would cost millions to do so and the state is broke, where will all the money come from? DAS

Is there a drop-off point for clothing and anything else for victims of the bushfires on the Gold Coast? Al

To our State Government, here is a thought. Why can’t

we truck water out to the farmers dams that need it. We hav a Desal plant here, if it’s about the cost don’t give yourself a pay rise after every election. Ex-digger

To Rick, Professor Peter Ridds Court win on all 17 counts had everything to do with Reef science. Lefty Green science propaganda was on trial. And common sense easily won. Don

Just saw another one of those annoying funeral ads. Oops. Turned out to be a tourism commercial for Adelaide. Coaster

One no name writer attacking Greenie protesters for a lack of dams to fight fires. Where is there any sense in that rubbish comment? People have lost homes and life possessions. Wildlife has endured heavens knows what. Firefighters and

all emergency services plus countless volunteers have given their all and still are. You want to blame someone? Well blame the narrow-minded politicians and people like yourself. The biggest enemy to this place is mankind itself. Radish

CTP Insurance. Used the calculator to see if better deals available for vehicle. What a joke – every insurer was exactly the same. They appear to be in perfect harmony with each other as to what they charge – what a waste of time thinking there was competition.

Interesting about NRL to expand by possibly two clubs. Brisbane a logical choice & perhaps Melbourne with the numbers that attended State of Origin. Also there are two AFL clubs in Sydney so why not another NRL club in Melbourne? Paul
