SCREAMS KEEP COMING AS DRACULA’S BLOODS A NEW SHOW
DRACULA’S Cabaret has given the Gold Coast its first look at new show Muertos less than a month out from opening night.
The new performance is taking on a “Day of the Dead” theme, with the venue dubbing it a tribute to “living on the razor’s edge”.
It marks choreographer Adelaide Clark’s fifth year with Dracula’s and she admitted the three weeks of rehearsals before each launch could be hectic.
“We’ve got aerial acrobatics, an adagio act, we’ve got singing, we’ve got dancing, we’ve got horses, it’s just blink and another thing happens,” she said.
“We knew we really wanted to do a strong theme this year. The Mexican theme is high energy, it’s colour, it’s movement.
“We thought it was the perfect combo of the dark, macabre side of things with the Day of the Dead and also a celebration of life, and we thought that went hand in hand with our brand.”
The show layers carnival acts, aerial acrobatics, new music performers and their signature comedy.
Joining the cast this year are performers Miss Skapalova and Bray Garcia, a couple who have performed their adagio (balancing) act around the world.
Bray, originally from Mexico, said the pair had been invited to join the show. “We’ve been professionally performing together for about five years, but before that both of us have performed individually,” he said.
“Dracula’s is our 10th show. The act we’ll be performing is called erotic adagio, it’s a combination of dance, sensuality and very sexual choreography.”
