PRINCE ALL IN FOR CHANCE TO TRY HAND AT POKER TABLE

- CHRIS MCMAHON

A STRONG poker face, an equally strong outfit choice and maybe a little bit of poker knowledge will help rugby league legend Scott Prince at the upcoming World Poker Tour (WPT).

Prince will take on the likes of Australian WPT Champions Club member Joe Hachem and DJ Havana Brown, in a celebrity charity game next Thursday night on the eve of Australia’s first WPT festival.

The 11-day event at The Star Gold Coast is expected to attract players from all over the world and Prince, a poker ambassador for the casino, is flushed with the thought of having a hand in it.

“I’ll be going in quietly confident,” he said.

“I’m sure the competitive juices will be flowing on Thursday night. I just don’t want to bundle out early. I’ll probably get overly confident and go all in early and sit back and watch the rest of it.

“I’m really looking forward to launching the poker space here and being a part of the WPT launch here on the Gold Coast.

“I’m looking forward to not only being competitive, but having some fun on the tables.”

He said his table knowledge was there, but he was more interested in getting his outfit choice right.

“I used to watch it a fair bit, and I’m getting back involved with it now being on Fox and I love watching their poker faces and the outfits they wear,’’ he said.

“It seems like a whole lot of fun and the fact that it’s here in our own backyard is something special.”

The celebrity game is on September 26, with the festival running from September 27-October 7.
