Another teen thug bashing

- CHRIS MCMAHON AND BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

A TEENAGER has been left with a fractured skull and a brain bleed after a brutal assault in the latest youth violence incident at a Gold Coast public transport hub.

The 15-year-old boy had met with another teenager at the Coomera Train Station on Sunday about 1.30pm, for what was believed to have been an organised fight when he was set upon by eight to 10 people.

It’s understood the teen was knocked to the ground, kicked and stomped on by the group.

Police attended, but no complaint was made.

On December 3, the boy’s mother rang police to make a complaint after he was taken to hospital, where his horrific injuries were discovered. The Bulletin understands he had a fractured skull and a brain bleed.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the station.

Investigations are ongoing.

This latest bashing follows a horror year of assaults around train stations and shopping centres on the Coast, where teens have been bashed and robbed.

On several occasions teens were set upon by a group, who severely beat them, before stealing their brand name clothes off their backs, along with their shoes, phones, bags and hats.

Several of the brutal encounters were filmed and posted to social media including an alleged assault on a homeless man, while he waited for his bus at Helensvale Westfield.

A young man and his teenage brother were assaulted in a suspected gay bashing at Coomera Westfield.

The assaults forced the hand of Gold Coast police into running Operation Romeo Luminous, a high visibility operation targeting areas where teens are known to congregate.
