‘I’M GOING TO GO HARD. I’M NOT HERE TO CHILL’
JORDAN Ravi is yet to make his first major Australian debut as a musician but he believes he has what it takes to represent the country in Eurovision.
The Darwin ex-busker, 20, arrived on the Gold Coast yesterday for the Eurovision – Australia Decides competition this Saturday.
He hasn’t met any of the nine other contestants but Jordan has already scoped out their talent and has his game face on.
“I’m really excited to meet everyone. I’ve already listened to their songs.
“It’s always interesting to see their personalities and if it goes with what they are like on stage.
“I’m all smiles when we are backstage or chatting or meeting, but when it comes to being on stage, I’ll leave nothing on the table.
“I’m going to go hard. I’m not here to chill.”
He will perform his first and only official song Pushing Stars which has been streamed almost 20,000 times since being released on Spotify a week ago.
He may have an upper hand to the others as the song was written by George Sheppard of Brisbane band Sheppard and Tania Doko, both contestants last year.
“It’s a song which really addresses loneliness and feeling lost,” Jordan said.
“We are all going through separate journeys and I think everyone can relate to a period where they’ve felt lost and lacking direction.”
Last year’s first Eurovision – Australia Decides was on the Gold Coast. Brisbane artist Kate Miller-Heidke took out the top spot and represented Australia in Tel Aviv, Israel. This year the winner will represent the country in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The live TV final will be screened from 79.30pm on SBS on Saturday.
