Cr Hermann Vorster quoted by the Bulletin yesterday saying that the Labrador locals who for decades have dragged their tinnies across the sand to the grass and rocks must be doing damage to the dunes! You can’t make this stuff up! The local

Politicians are ridiculous, doesn’t matter which country or type of politics. The inhouse fighting, squabbling, digging up dirt on their opponents just goes on & it’s same between countries. The way this fiasco over getting China to sort out their recent virus, most of the politicians don’t want to push the issue, too much money involved & push China too far it may trigger a huge war that no one wants to mention. Problem is these politicians are the ones with everyone’s lives in their hands and that’s not good.

Why are there sign language people waving their hands everywhere during a major TV announcement when a simple closed caption would be better? Redneck

Let’s be realistic, a lot of businesses will not survive this pandemic & that’s whether the borders are open or not. On the GC especially, tourism is the main reason for so many small businesses & until international travel begins again there will not be enough $ to go around relying only on Australian tourists.

I’m in favour of getting rid of the boats from the foreshore, it’s no different to littering or abandonment, also, are they registered? Bet not, so as far as I’m concerned get yourself a trailer and pay like the rest of us. Perko

The NSW Premier respectfully asked for the Queensland border to be opened, but was met with an arrogant and sarcastic response from Annastacia Palaszczuk,

saying “Oh NSW has had twice as many coronavirus cases than Qld.” But has Annastacia forgotten that thousands of Australians flew into Sydney airport from overseas, many suffering with the virus, and the hundreds who stepped ashore at Sydney’s CST with the virus including the Ruby Princess? Annastacia completely lacks any type of diplomacy and is an embarrassment to all Queenslanders. KenW.

All this data about youth crime is rubbish. 38per cent have been charged with another offence within six months. What it really means only 38per cent were caught again in six months. What the real percentage is we will never know. But it would be over 60per cent conservatively. L.B.C. Parkwood

Open the borders? For tourism?

Where are these tourists coming from? No overseas tourists. The majority of NSW and Vic people are on JobKeeper and JobSeeker payments. No spare cash. Certainly not enough to pay for a Qld holiday! Gold Coast is kidding itself if a massive influx of tourists waiving dollars to spend will happen with the removal of barriers. It’s not going to happen. The Realist.

Palaszczuk is a dominator and gets no support from 90% of us. That alone is an election loss. Only people who don’t run a business could possibly think “we are doing well”. Most think we are the “nanny state” and we will remain that if this Premier doesn’t take professional action immediately. She doesn’t give a second thought to what keeps our beautiful State functional. The borders must be opened ASAP to protect the tourism industry from total destruction. The current situation is pointing strongly towards us all having a “not so merry Christmas”. LS

To Clive and Pauline. My health is more important than your constitutional right to travel wherever and whenever you wish. RAMBO

There can only be one loser in the Southport RSL squabble the Diggers. I supported RSL clubs over the years as I thought I was also helping raise funds for the Diggers – not to give it to lawyers. Please stop this nonsense. I understand you are both run as separate businesses but surely you are all under one umbrella with similar goals.

I’m finding it hard to criticise Stacia. I’m a liberal voter but with Jeanette Young she has managed this virus exceptionally well to get to here. Happy to sit back & wait.

I see an increasing number of drivers driving without their headlights on, when streetlights are on and other cars clearly have theirs on, and it’s dark. Wake up and turn on the lights, the ones on your vehicle and the one in your brain before you have a accident. Mike

Boats dragged across beach interfering with regeneration of sand dunes? Really? Better stop the kids digging & building sand castles then.

What is the point opening the border when visitors cannot do anything but lie on the beach - limited 10 people in restaurants/cafes/coffee shops? No theme parks open no pubs or clubs with no more than 10 patrons. Why not up the number of patrons/customers so the locals and intrastate people can provide at least some income to those doing it tough? Foggy

Re-Hazelwood power station demolished. Here’s hoping Doona Dan has a long extension cord to other states for power. Johnbrew

So China warns it is on the brink of a “new Cold War” with the US. Silly me, I thought the old Cold War had never ended. Dodge
