Premier’s difficult choices should not be trivialised

-

DAMNED if she does! Damned if she doesn’t!

I wish all these do-gooders who aim trigger finger to keyboard aren’t losing any sleep, unlike our Premier Annastacia Palaszuk, who is constantly bullied for not opening our borders due to her ethical decision to put Queensland’s safety first, instead of the dollar value.

Pretty soon, we will be renowned as the “Whinging State” as opposed to the “Sunshine State” which I find more enticing to attract our many visitors.

I fully understand the financial impact on our local tourism industry and small businesses. (Again, we can all do our bit to support same).

But on the other side of the coin, losing a loved one to coronavirus causes immeasurable suffering especially when our leader has made a moral decision for our borders to remain closed until perhaps September to guard against this happening.

I am aware and saddened that losing billions of dollars on our own turf is devastating but prioritsing our health is fundamentally the reason our Premier is not budging from her perch!

If anyone feels they can fit easily into Annastacia’s shoes and be subjected to such a difficult decision in this current time then I would be happy to vote for you at the next election.

Because of the unprecedented nature of COVID-19, I feel that a High Court challenge to be initiated by Senator Pauline Hanson isn’t really warranted, as our Premier’s decision should be respected and upheld in view of our fellow Queenslanders’ health and well being.
