Kann the man to lift Seahawks

- ELIZA REILLY

NEWLY appointed North Gold Coast Seahawks basketball director Bradley Kann has wasted no time declaring his lofty ambitions for the club.

Kann, 26, joins the club from Tasmania where he has spent the past two years nurturing talent as Basketball Tasmania’s development officer.

Kann previously held dual roles as Townsville’s basketball development officer and Basketball Queensland’s highperformance officer for Northern Queensland.

Now back in his native state, Kann believes the Seahawks have what it takes to develop into a Queensland basketball powerhouse.

“I’d love for us to be known as the best shooting association in Queensland and also be a yearly contender for the Vince Hickey award as the best junior association in Queensland,” he said.

“I believe the Seahawks have the talent and growth capacity to achieve that.

“My main focus will be on player development and strengthening those pathways from club to representative basketball as well as moving into senior competitions and our QSL side. I also want to help develop coaches because it’s going to take our entire community to be as successful as we want to be.”

Kann also hopes to employ some of the knowledge he gained from Basketball Tasmania development manager and Australian junior coach Mark Radford to help elevate the Seahawks juniors.

“I am very fortunate to get the opportunity after Dwayne (general manager Dwayne Vale) reached out to me and I know they’re a club on the rise and heading in the right direction so it’s an exciting opportunity for me,” he said.
