Kindness and empathy just as important in COVID fight

- PAM DELAHUNTY-HUNTER, BIGGERA WATERS

ACCORDING to the financial gurus, it will take at least a decade for our Government to recover the national debt that the COVID-19 has bestowed upon us.

A lot of people are of the opinion that with the implementation of stimulus packages, introduction of JobKeeper payments and JobSeeker coronavirus supplements that the ‘kitty’ would be well and truly dry!

That is not the case as these structured monies which were carefully handed out by the Government actually increases consumer spending which was the ultimate goal to assist businesses etc. stay afloat ( albeit somewhat).

With the Jobtrainer Skills Package (at a cost of 1.5 billion dollars) rolled out, it gives a pleasing glimmer of hope to all those who have lost their jobs in this current pandemic and are currently just a number in the dole queue.

It is so hard to comprehend just how much devastation both health wise and economically this virus has impacted the world in just over seven months.

With great anticipation of finding a vaccine soon, we can all just live in hope that the mutation of this virus will evolve to a much milder form and be less deadly.

We can all express our opinions and stand to debate amongst ourselves regarding current issues but at the end of the day, it is wise to continue social distancing on our part as it has proven to be the important number one step in prevention and also believe that Mother Nature is our sole boss and that includes climate change which is another hot topic for discussion.

We are only human and the best advice is to be kind to each other and watch out for others as we are emotional souls within a physical body. To just accept what is going around and not fight amongst each other, will at least maintain a healthy/stable mind which is vital for our self protection in these turbulent times!
