High five as Bull Shark establishes herself as a big fish

- ELIZA REILLY

TEENAGER Jasmyn Davidson has established herself as one of the QAFLW’s most exciting forwards after a bag of five goals in Bond University’s 72-7 victory over Aspley.

The Broadbeach junior crossed from the Cats in the off-season to begin her senior career at the Bull Sharks and wasted no time cementing her place in Bond’s QAFLW line-up.

After a brief stint in the development league, the former Suns Academy prospect and Year 12 student earned a senior recall and her five goals saw her named best on ground as Bond rollicked home against the QAFLW newcomers at the Canal on Saturday.

Bond 2017 premiership hero Ally Evans had a 50-game milestone match to remember as her team skipped out to a 42-point halftime lead and never looked back.

Jess Maher contributed two goals while Caitlin Thorne, Annie Muir and Charlotte Hammans added singles.

Davidson, Muir, Krystal Scott, Ellie Hampson, Tegan Levi and Lucinda Pullar were named in the best.

Bond is preparing for a 2019 grand final rematch this Saturday against Coorparoo.

Casidhe Simmons kicked six goals for Bond’s development side, which went on to claim its third win for the season.

The news wasn’t as good for the Coolangatta Bluebirds, who suffered a 42-8 QAFLW loss at the hands of Coorparoo, and a 36-1 development defeat.

IN QFAW Division 1 league action, newcomer Southport Sharks claimed its first senior women’s victory with a 24-0 win over Morningside.

Broadbeach announced its arrival with a 40-3 victory over Mount Gravatt having sat out Round 1 with a bye, while Surfers Paradise took another step towards contender status with a 14-9 win over 2019 grand finalist Burleigh.
