AMBER Heard claimed in court Johnny Depp threw 30 bottles at her like they were “grenades” during a “threeday hostage situation” on the Gold Coast.

London’s High Court was also told that Depp tried to suffocate Heard with a pillow.

The allegations emerged during Heard’s third day in the witness box in Depp’s libel case against The Sun newspaper for a 2018 article that called him a “wife beater”.

The court also heard of text messages from Depp to Heard’s nurse, where he said that he had told them to give her drugs to “calm her down”.

And a makeup artist who worked on Heard before an appearance on James Corden’s US late night talk show told the court that she had put concealer on bruises and bright red lipstick to cover a cut lip.

Heard claims Depp caused the injuries when he headbutted her in December 2015.

In explosive testimony, Heard detailed claims that Depp threw 30 bottles at her in a rampage during which the top of his finger was cut off.

“He started picking up bottles one by one and using them like grenades, like bombs, throwing them one after another, right in my direction,” she said.

“… He threw all the bottles that were within reach, all except one, a magnum of wine, out of 30 or so on the bar.”

Eleanor Laws, QC, challenged Heard, claiming she threw bottles at Depp and her evidence was “lies”.

“You took a bottle and threw it at his head … it smashed the mirror behind him,” she said. “You threw another bottle really hard and forcefully at him and his hand was on the countertop. It severed his finger.”

Heard denied that she had cut off Depp’s finger.

The Aquaman actor, 34, also denied knowingly taking her dogs Pistol and Boo to Australia in breach of quarantine laws. Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce demanded she be investigated for perjury after it was alleged she had asked Depp’s assistant to falsify a document.

Heard, who pleaded guilty to falsifying customs documents and was fined $1000 in Southport Magistrates Court in 2016, denied she deliberately broke the law.
