LATEST relief package for bush fire victims; mostly appropriate. What is baffling is the many who say their homes were uninsured. That is a basic responsibility of responsible home owners, accompanied by bush fire preparedness. Driving through from Beaudesert to Canungra, the homes are down in the slope, surrounded by lush green vegetation and towering eucalypt trees. Very nice, but will soon turn tinder dry. The build up of fuel causes fires. The fire then fuels its own heat. Don’t wait until the green has turned brown; please get fire hazard reduction in place – and insure your precious assets.
