A SUSSEX YANKEE IN THE ROYAL COURT

- STEPHEN DRILL

LONDON: Prince Harry and Meghan’s second child will pledge allegiance to the Star Spangled Banner rather than sing God Save the Queen.

The new baby will be an American citizen, in a major break from tradition for the British royal family.

The California-based couple revealed their joyous news on Valentine’s Day — the same day Harry’s mum

Princess Diana revealed that she was pregnant with him 37 years ago.

The child will become a US citizen, which is conferred upon birth there.

Omid Scobie, a close confidant of Meghan who wrote the best-selling book Finding Freedom, revealed last week that Meghan would not return to the UK this year.

Scobie revealed complications with COVID-19 restrictions meant the

Duchess would stay in the US to be with their son Archie.

Also, a new photograph released by the couple shows Meghan is several months pregnant, raising questions about whether she is already too far along to fly.

Prince Harry will head home for the Queen’s 95th birthday, his grandfather Prince Philip’s 100th birthday and to help unveil a statue dedicated to his mother.

The baby news was announced in a statement just days after Meghan had a big court win over a British newspaper about a heartfelt leaked letter she had written to her father, Thomas.

The pregnancy comes after Meghan had a miscarriage in July 2019.

Ladbrokes has Alfie and Alexandra as frontrunners for the name, both with odds of 4-1, and betting on the baby’s sex has seen both a boy and girl priced at 10-11.
