TAMMY MELTS IRONMAN MATT ... AS ALI REIGNS
HEARTS were racing during the Nutri-Grain Ironman series at the weekend. The performance of Gold Coast-based Ali Day (below) is being hailed one of “greatest comebacks in sport” after a first-ever series clean sweep. It is 18 months after injury threatened his career. He won a sixth straight race of the series on Sunday at Kingscliff – prompting ironman legend Shannon Eckstein to remark: “I never had a perfect year – that is very hard to do.” Meanwhile, a spent rival Matt Poole found solace in the arms of partner and Instagram sensation Tammy Hembrow after one gruelling race.
INSTAGRAM sensation Tammy Hembrow has stolen the show and a smooch with boyfriend Matt Poole during the Kingscliff Beach Ironman Series event.
As Hembrow, regarded by some to be Australia’s biggest influencer with 12 million followers, was cheering on Poole in the surf life saving series this month, rival Ali Day set the pace.
Day’s historic Nutri-Grain Ironman Series win is being hailed as “one of the greatest comebacks in sport” after he became the first-ever to claim a series clean sweep. More remarkable, it comes just 18 months after injury threatened to end his career.
Meanwhile, fitness queen Hembrow has shown her romance is continuing to blossom as she and Poole flaunted their love after his competition in round 4 of the Ironman series.
Hembrow, who has made headlines recently for her unique bikini trends, turned total fangirl as Poole found her standing on the railings near the finish line on Friday.
Poole had reason to celebrate after finishing fourth in the Enduro Surf competition and fourth in Saturday’s Specialist event, both won by Day. Poole and Hembrow have reportedly known each other since 2019, but went public with their relationship only in September.
The couple have been gushing over each other ever since in a series of intimate messages on social media.
“I did. I am obsessed,” Poole said when explaining how he was the first of the pair to say “I love you”.
