PROCTOR WARNS AGAINST COAST COMPLACENCY

-

KEVIN Proctor has been around long enough to know that one win doesn’t automatically lead to two.

The Titans co-captain says after a 42-16 win against Newcastle Knights, his side needs to not just back up the performance but look to improve against Manly on Sunday.

“I think in the past Titans teams have done that, after a good win they’ve been a little bit complacent,”

Proctor said. “As leaders and coaches we’ve got to stay on top of that to make sure all of the boys are switched on every training session to make sure we’re playing the best footy we can.”

Last meeting the Titans defeated the Sea Eagles 42-24 at Lottoland Stadium in Sydney, however this time it’s in Mudgee where the Gold Coast will need to perform with Manly taking their home game on the road.

“I’ve never played there but I’m really looking forward to it to see the Mudgee crowd and everyone getting amongst it,” Proctor said.

Some 270km northwest of Sydney, Mudgee will be significantly cooler than what the team has been used to on the Gold Coast.

“It’s better than playing in the heat,” Proctor said. “We played in the heat on Saturday and it was tough going. I was in the shade most of the time which was good.”

Proctor said they would need to keep a watchful eye on Tom Trbojevic who returns at fullback for Manly.

“Any team with him in it is a dangerous team,” he said. “We’re expecting a fit and fresh Tommy Trbojevic and I’m sure he’s missed out on a fair bit and he’s pretty keen to get in there and make a difference.”
