Plenty of festival talent and all that Jazz

- Gold Coast composer Jazz D’Arcy. KYLE WISNIEWSKI

THE Gold Coast Film Festival is back and one of the city’s brightest talents will showcase her musical virtuosity in the first Queensland feature film created since the pandemic.

Following the cancellation of last year’s event due to COVID-19 restrictions, the film festival returned to the Glitter Strip on Wednesday and will run until April 25.

On Friday the Christine Luby-directed film This Little Love of Mine – starring Australian actors Saskia Hampele and Liam McIntyre – will have its world premiere from 7pm at HOTA.

Gold Coast composer Jazz D’Arcy is behind the music of the rom-com that was the first Queensland feature film to go into production after the global pandemic brought the industry to a year.

At only 25, Ms D’Arcy has already composed the USA film Romance on the Menu and also plays an integral role in the musical composition of hit children’s television show Bluey.

Ahead of walking the red carpet of the film’s premiere on Friday, the singer-songwriter said she wanted to capture the magic debut feature standstill last film director Ms Luby desired.

“I wanted her to feel really happy with what we created and I think we got there, which we are very proud of,” she said.

“It was a joy to create the soundtrack for this film and to see it all come together, especially during such a strange time for the industry.”
