Supplier’s six-month search sticks

- CHRIS HERDE

AN automotive, agricultural, industrial and mining equipment supplier has increased its warehouse capacity tenfold after securing a larger property.

Scintex has a long-term lease at 47 Eagleview Place, Eagle Farm, and will move from its smaller base nearby at 10/783 Kingsford Smith Drive.

The move was prompted by Scintex’s rapid growth on the back of e-commerce sales and the strength within the agricultural and automotive sectors during the pandemic.

Scintex director Ryan Rose said they wanted to stay near the port and would be looking for more staff.

“We have been holding back in our old location because we were at our capacity. This new one is 10 times larger,” he said.

Their new 4085sq m office/ warehouse was purpose-built for national paper supplier KW Doggett Fine Paper 20 years ago. They relocated to Geebung three years ago when they were acquired by the BJ Ball Group forming Ball & Doggett. It was then occupied Brazco International which moved out at the start of the year.

Scintex will be paying between $115sq m and $120sq m plus outgoings in the deal struck by Cushman & Wakefield’s Bevan Galloway and CG Property Group’s Michael Callow.

Mr Galloway said Scintex had searched for the right property for six months.

Mr Callow said as well as the building’s size Scintex was attracted to its location, height and access.

He said there was a shortage of available quality industrial buildings to rent.

“We’re seeing a lot of drivers towards repurposing facilities in that part of the world but we don’t have a lot of available stock. That means rents are holding up quite well. While it’s not going to happen quickly I think we will see good rental growth over the next six to 12 months.”
