DISORDER BOOST
MENTAL HEALTH
AN HISTORIC $2.3bn has been pledged for mental health and suicide prevention in Tuesday’s federal budget.
The National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan will invest $1.4bn in “person-centred treatment”. A total $26.9m will also provide extra support for people with eating disorders and their families, including $13m to create a National Eating Disorder Research Centre.
It follows calls by Gold Coast MPs for more investment in mental health and eating disorder treatment.
