Nothing too hard for Gillan

-

FOOTBALL Gold Coast’s Volunteer of the Week is Mark Gillan from Mudgeeraba Soccer Club.

Mark has been involved at the Wallabies for 10 years as a volunteer, helping out in numerous roles around the club.

“I help out wherever I am needed, whether it is coaching, cleaning up, or shutting down fields,” said Gillan.

With the implementation of the “Mudgee Way” in full swing at the club, Gillan said that the whole process focused on more than just the playing aspect on the field.

“The Mudgee Way looks after the whole element on how we engage the game and the support channels in place from parents down to the kids,” said Gillan.

With most volunteering situations challenges arise but Gillan said nothing was ever to difficult in his role.

“Different situations arise and there are different expectations of what can and can’t be done at the club,” Gillan said.

“However, with the experience that we have in numerous situations we are always capable of handling those situations and coming out of it in a better way than we entered.”

The club has been committed to implementing its philosophy and Gillan is one of many volunteers who help.
