GC music awards call-out

LOCAL musos are invited to nominate for the 2021 Gold Coast Music Awards to help boost their careers.

Last year’s big winners included Casey Barnes, Eliza and the Delusionals, Busby Marou, Tijuana Cartel and Julz Parker (Hussy Hicks).

Eight categories are open for self-nomination, including: artist, breakout artist, live act, musician, release, song, venue and video.

The people’s choice award will be open to all finalists and a category new last year, the Gold Coast music prize, will be given to a nominee under the age of 25 by the judging panel.

The inaugural winner of last year’s music prize, electro indie-pop starlet DENNIS, said since winning she’d created with big budget companies, toured with major up-andcoming Australian acts and been supported by awardwinning marketing and media.

“Everyone involved wants the best for you and to see you grow as a Gold Coast artist,” she said. “They’re all on your team.” The eligibility period is January 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
