Calling for cat carers
THE Animal Welfare League Queensland is desperately seeking foster carers who are willing to foster cats in the short-term after an increase in number of requests for emergency assistance.
The AWLQ works with hospitals and support service providers to assist community members and their pets in times of need, such as when a person is rushed to hospital or can no longer be there for their pets.
Due to the demand, the AWLQ is expanding its emergency boarding program and needs people able to care for cats for about two weeks in their own homes while a pet’s owner is recovering. All food, bedding and necessary items are provided. To get involved email emergencyboarding@awlqld.com.au or call 5509 9014.
Meanwhile, Gold Coasters can get 20 per cent off their pet’s vaccination when making an appointment at any AWLQ community vet clinic before May 31. Book online by visiting www.awlqld.com.au
