COASTERS DIG DEEP FOR PERRY

-

ANOTHER six-figure sum has been raised to go towards Gold Coast research into finding a cure for paralysis.

The annual Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation ‘Everything is Possible’ gala dinner attracted a sold-out 580 attendees dressed to the nines on Saturday at The Star Gold Coast.

Foundation founder and executive president Perry Cross, left a ventilated quadriplegic 27 years ago at just 19 after being tackled on the rugby field, hosted the event after 2020’s was unable to go ahead.

On the night, Mr Cross said the foundation goal was to conduct a human clinical trial to restore movement in people with paralysis.

Mr Cross told the Bulletin: “It has been two years since our last gala dinner and it was great to get all our supporters together to raise much-needed funds to continue our research at Griffith University.

“I’m very thankful to everyone who came together during these difficult times to support the research into a cure for paralysis.”

Channel 9 The Block host Shelley Craft was MC with more than $200,000 raised for the foundation. Gold sponsors were Gold Coast Jaguar Land Rover, Bank of Queensland, Cross Carpets and Hickey Lawyers.
