*Rachel and *David need to stop complaining, stand up and take full responsibility for their 13-yearold son.

It’s not my fault, the school’s fault, the community’s fault, or the fault of anybody else except them. If he is running around like a wild animal, grow up and rein him in. LINDY DONATO, COOMERA

IN light of the revelations by Mr Mark Hunter (ex-member of the Coomera Connector community consultation group) (GC Bulletin, 06/05/21), will our Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk now investigate to ensure “the safeguarding of the health of residents and protection of the environment” (Mr Hunters’ role as instructed by the Premier) along this proposed corridor?

It is blatantly clear that the TMR under minister Mark Bailey is totally ignoring the concerns of residents.

Many millions of dollars have already been spent on this project and yet two of the most important steps have been left until last – the environmental impact study and the business case.

Who will be completing the environmental impact study? And what will be the terms of reference?

It is clear to me that the M2 is a bad idea due to its impact on people and the environment, not to mention its crippling cost. RUDY VANVIERSEN, HELENSVALE

OUR usual weekly luncheon group went in honour of the late and much-loved Brian Mossop.

As gathered we held a glass up for Brian as we thought he was one of the Gold Coast Bulletin’s greatest restaurant writers (along with his wife Patricia) and although he was not in his usual seat we knew he was near – and eager to eat with us.

Brian loved his tucker and his usual seat is still at our weekly restaurant.

He was sadly missed. We will still gather together each week and remember Brian who gave us all so much information that he had told us and we all will remember his wicked sense of humour.

See you soon.

All our love. The little gang (with your seat still empty until we all have fun again with you) LESLEY TYLER, ASHMORE

HAVEN’T heard the word “tacky” used to describe the Gold Coast recently but don’t get too uppity people with the HOTA opening, seems we are in for a re-run.

This week we were treated with glorious colour pictures and educated on “The X-rated lives of Gold Coast’s OnlyFans stars” and to stimulate us further the “Gold Coast’s Top 20 Instagram Influencers” (GCB 13/5).

While residents are still a bit sensitive about the delightful Orchid Avenue outdoor urinal on the footpath in Surfers Paradise and our unique highway artwork at Yatala, we generally accept a challenge as the new centrepiece in the HOTA foyer demonstrates.

Maybe it was a short news week, a strategy to attract new subscribers or tourists and sure, each of us has his or her own tastes, but most subscribers to a local newspaper do so to read news content rather than for the embarrassment of cringeworthy fluff.

We can do better.
