Suns lose respect in thrashing

- GREG DAVIS

GOLD Coast senior coach Stuart Dew says the Suns lost credibility across the AFL industry after Brisbane thrashed, bashed and dashed its way to a thumping 73-point win in QClash20.

The Lions kicked 14 unanswered goals from the second quarter to the fourth quarter at Metricon Stadium on Saturday as they romped to their fifthstraight win and their sixth victory in their past seven starts to take their overall record in the Queensland derby to 14-6.

Dew (pictured) did not mince his words.

“(We) let ourselves down, definitely would have lost some trust within the competition, our supporters,” he said.

“We are working hard on building consistency but that just fell away.

“We have to take it personal, we failed to compete. It was different to the Bulldogs game. We felt we opened the gate (on Saturday). We would have lost trust, no doubt.

“So some gains that were there will now get questioned.

“So we have to front up and take it on the chin and look to this week.

“There’s two choices, we can fall away between now and the bye and reset or we can get back on track immediately.”
