THE Gold Coast has not had any Covid cases for months yet today the council libraries still can’t operate normally.

You have to go through security guards and multi questions from staff before you are allowed in.

If you want to return a book you can’t drop it into the shute on the outside wall, it’s been taped up.

How stupid is that? They don’t want you to go inside the library yet to return a book you have to.

Also, why can’t you request a new book any more? Before Covid you could go on to the website and request a copy of a new publication. Yet now they say because of Covid, you can’t. Can someone explain to me the rationale behind these stupid rules. RICHARD FAURE-FIELD, ASHMORE

A SMALL article (GCB 07/06/21) from concerned cardiologists said people were ignoring impending and serious symptoms of heart disease, and refusing treatment for a handful of reasons.

I am weighing up, at 75, whether to go for the full scan and heart surgery treatment, but am in no hurry to do so, feeling zero symptoms, having had a couple of outrageous experiences of surgery in the dim and distant past.

One sign and symptom which affects the incomes of cardiologists, is the curtailment of elective surgery since the pandemic began, to free up beds, which was not necessary, but no one new that in the beginning.

Elective surgery should have been picking up by now and the average person’s hesitancy is quite justifiable at present, thanks to all the fearmongering by experts, so-called. DAVID HALL, COOMBABAH

THE nation came together in a mighty way in line with the official hosting day for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea (Thursday, May 27). Together, we have raised more than $5.1m and more than 20,000 hosts have registered their biggest morning teas.

Morning teas of all shapes and sizes were held all over the nation – Movie World’s Looney Tunes and Sydney’s SEA LIFE Aquarium Penguins even had a cuppa for cancer.

Cancer Council’s target of 20,000 host registrations has been surpassed and the not-for-profit is well on the way to hitting its fundraising target of $7m to support all Australians affected by all cancer.

It has been a privilege to be this year’s national Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea Ambassador and I’m eager to host my event this month. I will be cooking up a storm and hosting my closest friends and family to pay tribute to those in our lives who have experienced cancer.

It’s not too late to plan a Biggest Morning Tea before June 30 with your friends, family and/or colleagues and, of course, don’t forget you can host in person or virtually.

To donate or register to host please visit, biggestmorningtea.com.au or call 1300 65 65 85.
