BENNETT CONFIRMED DOLPHINS COACH
THE Dolphins have officially announced Wayne Bennett as their inaugural coach ahead of their 2023 introduction into the NRL.
The worst-kept secret in rugby league was unveiled at the Dolphins Leagues Club in
Redcliffe on Thursday morning.
Bennett, 71, met with Dolphins officials last Friday and has now secured the top job to lead the club’s new playing group in their first year in the national competition.
The master coach returns to Queensland after leading the Rabbitohs to the 2021 NRL Grand Final, inking a lucrative four-year deal with the new franchise.
“I feel very privileged, actually,” Bennett said.
“At the start of the season, I had no idea this would happen.
“It’s been quite a journey and I’m pleased to be back in Brisbane and pleased to be here (in Redcliffe).”
