MESSAGE OF THE DAY: Let’s hope the Panthers give Manly a break and become the most hated. Barney.

I think Mann needs to try and build a bridge with regards to his constant badgering of our Premier. I see it as a cry for help he can’t seem to let it go. I hope he can get over this issue. Cheers Skipper

The text message of the day (19/10) is the best I have read in ages about netzero emissions. China has no absolutely no intentions of reaching that target by 2050 until they reach the western world’s standard of living without sending them broke. With 1.4 billion people to look after and feed they want to sell millions of wind turbines and solar panels that they produce first before they give up fossil fuels to use themselves. As they produce 75 per cent of those products, the west will be the guinea pigs to see if it works economically. They are laughing their heads off at the climate zealots around the world bent on their own economic destruction.

First sign of a tick, your cat or dog will miss a meal, simple as that.

So climate change causes drought, floods, cyclones, severe hot temperatures, severe cold temperatures, high winds no wind, fires and now mental health issues and suicides. Is there nothing you can’t blame climate change for? Oh sorry, also unfounded fear and stupidity. Peter J

The refinements to the Our City Our Plan amendment package (actual description on Council’s website) are taking so long to be finalised, it may be necessary to conduct a further review of the refinements. After further consultation of course. At which time the building boom will be over.

A tradie pulling a cone while working on a high rise, well that has only been going on since the Seventies. Woodleigh

Your correspondent Keith Woods and MP Langbroek call for more police to handle youth crime. Anyone thought about moving the responsibility to the parents of these grubby creatures?

Re trade plunges in Tweed. If the government forces businesses to behave like the Gestapo what did you expect? Johnbrew

JR Ashmore gets it wrong again. Hey JR, you quote “Go to the Transport Dept. It is on their scree” (sic). Well maybe you should do that yourself and you will see that you are required to indicate left as you exit a roundabout regardless of which lane you are in or even if you are travelling straight ahead. But of course you won’t. GC of Gaven

Sorry Keith Woods (20/10) more police will not lessen crime. Youth know they won’t get punished in any way. I’m going over the top here. What if you murder someone and the sentence was $1000 fine and 50 hours’ community service. There’d be 1000s of murders a year. No real deterrent.

Martin Oxenford, is Australia one of the world’s biggest polluters of emissions at 1 per cent? Is that why you think it’s so important for our PM to attend these climate talks. When China is 30 per cent of the world’s global emissions and their president is in fact not attending and he has just ordered another 100,000 tons of coal for China, so Martin stop drinking your own bath water.

Premier, you’ve had more than 18 months to prepare our hospitals for Covid-19. If your government had fixed that mess there would be no need to continually lock our borders and you would save us taxpayers millions of dollars in government grants. Open up those empty wards at GCUH now and stop blaming everyone else for this incompetence. Vaxxed Voter.

Anna, what planet have you been on for the past 12 months? Burleigh may well have been busy the one day you visited recently. Try going into Surfers any day between Monday and Friday to see what’s really happening outside your taxpayer-funded office.

Oh dear! What has happened in the world! Physiologists are now examining the mental health of “doomsday climate preachers”! I think you might have meant psychologists, KenW, and even they would laugh off such a proposal. It must be terrible for all those climate change deniers out there when even their favourite newspaper, the Gold Coast Bulletin, champions the fact that climate change is real! Sensible Scientist

Sooner be on Tom’s Planet Queensland than Chook’s Planet Self-Interest

At least we “anti-vaxxers” did some research, Pete. Did you do yours, or was the news you got from the morning breakfast shows good enough?

Yeah dance it up, Grettle Hamburger. Your show’s nearly over. As they say, they only want you when you’re 17, when you’re 21, you’re just another loud mouth marshmallow. And as MnM said, we’ve created a monster but nobody wants her. Children should be seen.

To the person who suggested there are few, if any, smoky diesel motor vehicles on the road anymore and Twiggy finding one may have been a set-up. You need to get out more. Plenty on the roads I drive on. Not everyone can afford to trade their old diesel vehicles in on the latest modern ones.

We are lucky on the Gold Coast to have a mayor and council that know better than the health experts on when the reopening should take place. Outstanding.

In earlier times police officers patrolled streets with whistles to alert other patrolling police. Later police officers patrolled the streets on horseback, then cars and motor bikes. Their presence helped deter criminal activity. Nowadays, less time is spent patrolling to save expenditure and allow police time to complete bureaucratic administrative computer work, statistics and all sorts of other non-core internal reports generated by the top brass. Time to cut back on the administrative side and get out and about more and make use of technology like drones.

Can someone please explain to me why is boxing still considered a sport. Concussion and head trauma in sport is a major concern. Most sports are trying to stop the injury occurring, but you are applauded and celebrated if you can beat the sense out of another person.

Unvaxxed, unmasked, unbridled, unafraid. Get with it sheepies, you are being conned. YabbaDabba

There is a deafening silence from Canberra and the media about Tasmania wanting to reach a double-dose rate of 90 per cent before opening up. Another indication of bias and preferential treatment for Liberal states.
