Helensvale unbeaten in 3s

COOMERA Hope Island’s first innings score of 9-172 would have beaten 12 out of 13 third-grade teams this week but was not enough to beat the undefeated Hawks.

Led by opener Christopher Bartlett’s 62 atop the order and No.3 Garry Foran’s 29, Coomera set one of the most imposing totals of the round but could only watch as Helensvale powered past the score with five wickets in hand.

Wicketkeeper-captain Ben Daley topscored for the Hawks with 40 while Craig Pilbin (37) and Sean Clark (26) produced the matchwinning partnership to get over the line.

Palm Beach Colts opener Todd Davis posted a round-high undefeated 67 to chase down Alberton’s 134 with six wickets in hand.

Bonogin, Broadbeach, Runaway Bay, Southport and Palm Beach all took their place in the winner’s circle.
