I would certainly clarify Lea Emery’s opinion on prison experience for juveniles. I was in trouble when very young, fighting and drinking, and at 17 was placed in Pentridge prison when my mate and l, who was 16, defended ourselves against three sailors and we were charged I was placed in D division Pentridge. I done my time five months and never to be charged again as it was the greatest lesson l have ever learnt. PK

The council installing CCTV cameras are only going to record crimes the same as home security cameras, and if the culprits get caught they go into court sneering and come out laughing and giving the bird to the cameras. Barney

People who gloat about their solar

panels disgust me. Their “free” night-time electricity is paid for by renters, by poor people and pensioners who can’t afford solar panels and by unit residents who have no space to put them. Gloating about bludging off pensioners is despicable. Marie

To Curious, GCB Text The Editor, do your research! China is by far and away the biggest producer of solar power. Here are the figures up to the end of 2021 in Megawatts: China – 306,973MW, United States – 95,209MW, Japan – 74,191MW. Australia comes in at 7th with 19,076MW.

I get so angry when I read in the paper every day that another low life has escaped with a ridiculous sentence for the crime they have committed because he or she has had a dad who is a drunk a mother is a drug addict or they have just broken up with their partner. When are the judges going to get serious and give them a decent punishment. The Informers Pupil

SUCKERS … that’s what ISIS think of Australia. Ready now to set up a base ..... all paid for by ALBO.

Qantas wins the Shonky award and Alan Joyce gets a pay rise. His annual salary, in the millions, has been supplemented by millions of dollars of Qantas shares. Meanwhile workers’ are being asked to exercise restraint because raising their wages will increase inflation. Another example of the world running on bs.

So Tom wants the light rail to be constructed from both ends to save money, next week he’ll be telling high-rise builders to halve construction time they should start at both ends and meet in the middle. Stick to bins and potholes Tom. Chopper

How is the LR going to be powered. just asking for a friend.

Ajs, re: your comments about coal fired power. The only reason power costs are increasing is because we’re not using enough coal and gas power but more heavily subsidised renewables. Coal returns $ billions annually to the economy and is not subsidised. Ron. S

Lake Dweller, I’ve heard the rumours of the road works and Elanora’s flood this year. I must say what absolute garbage that rumour is. How is bridge going to make it flood? More like a crazy amount of rain in one spot and the river rises too quick the storm water has no where to go. I watched it in my street once the drains were blocked and luckily it was high tide by 8.30 it started to recede after that. 4221

Kiwi childrens hosp declines a donation of $540K. I word 2 the wise idiots. It matters little 2 kids where the money is from, it saves lives. Period! Absolute woke idiots.

Australia’s education system needs a real overhaul not just a tinkering around the edges, doing more of the same sort of things under a rebranding with a PR exercise thrown in. Finland has proved that there is a different way that achieves better results with minimal homework, less time per day at school and almost no standardised testing.

Why has the media gone soft on politicians? Since Albo won the election, they are running protection for him and won’t ask the questions that need to be asked. Where is the plan you had before the election? Where is the saving on energy costs? All he does is look for photo opportunities and now he is trying Biden’s move where he just walks away if he doesn’t like the question. Less than 33 per cent of the vote did not give them a mandate to send us all broke. Peter

Our premier is talking about accessible tourism. Hope she doesn’t forget to put Jetstar on her email list. Davey baby, Helensvale, Re Jetstar wheelchair debacle ..... where were all the so called “gentlemen” when this was allowed to happen? 4218

Sheridan Whitehead, I agree all Australians should be able to walk on to any farm, property or National Park to fish and forage. Although the owners may have other ideas about that. As they have a legal right to their land owned or leased. Why should First Nations people have the same right? They lost those rights when we took their land. Sim.

I know promoting tourism has to happen, but seriously Anna don’t you think $12m could be used to give the homeless somewhere to live? If tourists see so many people asleep on sidewalks that isn’t an incentive to come back is it? Stevo

Ratchet straps on Oracle Building … replace with duct tape, holds plane engines together. Tho seriously, who in Brisbane is responsible for Body Corporate, an area in need of major overhaul? Someone well sitting on their hands. Flicka

I was saddened to read about the cute little terrier that died after

eating a dead toadfish it found in the sand dunes at Broadwater Park. Japanese people, who are known to eat all sorts of things that may be strange to us, eat toadfish but only after they have been prepared by special chefs.

It’s getting that way now that you do not pay money for something that is not already made or built. Houses, cars, caravans, boats.

Much of the widespread flooding was worse 70 years ago, but no climate change hysteria in those days. What suckers we are falling prey to socialist deceivers.

So Chalmers, our treasurer studied economics and budgets for a deficit of $33bn. I thought a budget was so you did not spend more than your income as otherwise you are bankrupt. Oh sorry I forgot we are already bankrupt. Ozman

Are Aussies aware that (we) Australians have enough energy resources to keep the lights the gas

and all else on indefinitely but alas all these resources have been sold overseas all for the sake of the almighty dollar after all money is so much more important than people, just ask any politician.

Did the southerners moving to the Gold Coast bring all the miserable weather with them.

If the state government is going to stick with the redevelopment of the Gabba for the Olympics, as looks likely, it needs to work with the AFL hierarchy to try and get a second team in Brisbane to get value for money after the Olympics are over. If they are going to spend a billion or more, then they can throw another $50 to $100 million to entice a Melbourne side to move up permanently (more preferable than to start another one up). With 15,000 to 20,000 Victorians moving up to SEQ a year for the next 5 to 10 years, it makes a lot of sense as Brisbane will still only have two NRL sides that doesn’t represent the fastest growing area of the West.

The Bulldogs would be a perfect fit, otherwise the Kangaroos will also do. DS

The inflation bus left before the RBA could catch it and now it is heading up the road faster than the RBA is running after it. Come on guys. Time to get a move on.

Terry S, I don’t agree. The Isis wives supported their husband’s actions or surely they would have taken the children to a better environment. Both parents can have a huge influence on children so if they still think what their husband was doing was right that will still be indoctrinated into the children. Just because they are female doesn’t mean they won’t be a danger to our society.

Hey, Anon (GCB, 4/11), what part of “Google has algorithms to promote their preferred narratives” did you miss? They offer “sources”, even peer reviewed ones, that fit their narrative. Being “right” isn’t part of their political agenda. JS
