I recently suggested in a text that the timeframe for purchasing nuclear submarines was problematic and would leave Australian defences vulnerable for too long. Furthermore, the huge sums of money proposed to be spent on the subs could be used to make our defence forces smarter and more agile. The announcement that more drones and missiles are to be purchased is a step in the right direction. Now reduce the number of subs proposed to be purchased and spend the savings on smart technology.

There may be a “Bright Future Ahead For Paradise City” (GCB5/11/2022), but not before some pain as in previous real estate boom and busts.

An Australian University has made a breakthrough in the quest to improve the efficiency of solar panels. Let’s hope the technology is used here and not sold cheaply to overseas companies as usually happens.

Just got back from Tallebudgera Creek rock wall, the beautiful shade trees I have been sitting under for years have been torn down. Concrete Tom strikes again What’s it take to stop this vandalism Bet it wouldn’t happen near his place. Skull Man Koala Park

A recent real estate advertisement described a 10.1 metre beach frontage on the Gold Coast as “massive”. I’d hate to see a small frontage. An advertisement I saw a few years ago described a property as having an “eagle’s eye view of the ocean”. Now that showed a bit more clarity, focus, credibility and believability.

GST Is fuelling inflation. Every inflated price has a further 10% tax added to it. State governments have little interest in reducing inflation because they are reaping millions from the percentage tax. Jeff

Hey Albo if you want to create a few jobs why not start building another half a dozen power stations, nuclear coal or gas powered doesn’t matter which and get our power bills down to what they should be, and stop listening to those alarmist greenies. Woodleigh

This Bris.Lions women’s team are absolute champions all round the ground. Such a joy to watch pure footy.. Jayar Palmy

Affordable energy it used to be, 1900 till 2000. The govmts owned the utility’s, then sold them. End of story. 4cr

Spoilt and stupid. Too many privileged people complaining too much about so much, while so many families in the ‘real’ world are suffering daily. Count your blessings cretins and shut the heck up!

I think by now we all know that something is amiss in science. None of the climate change forecasts of the past 35 years came to be, nor did the past three years of covid predictions. 2.9 million people died of influenza and pneumonia in 2018 but that average declined by 98% in 2020 when 2.8 million died of covid instead. When there’s so much taxpayers’ money available for scaremongers, why wouldn’t unscrupulous people tell lies to get it? Geoffrey

Well played Wobblies, but you can’t close out a game. Let’s not celebrate another loss. Mind you, I’m happy we got Rennie and the Kiwis are stuck with Foster. Big Artie

Australia T20 cricket duds. Maybe should spend bit less time undermining coaches, captains, sponsors and supporting woke causes

At 48 years of age, Mark Hunt proved that power and timing are the last thing to go as fighters age by knocking out the much younger and highly fancied Sonny Boy Williams. What a great note to finish his career on.

Why do we have to listen to Littleproud & National trash, they didn’t earn a vote apart from themselves and their families, Labor won let’s hear from them.

Well this week our Wallabies played arguably the best team in the world and lost by 1...still a loss..but was that a preview of the final in Paris next year ?...noel

With so many call centres, including Queensland ones, operating on Australian Eastern Summer Tine, it’s just one more reason for us to have daylight saving here. Jm

Big ONYA indeed to those excellent folk in “the forces” keeping us Aussies safe!

One of the daily problem,s is ppl leaving garage door,s,doors & windows unlocked, the offenders

sneak about at night checking your security, find access, enter,go straight into the house, find your car keys, bags, wallets small valuable items, jump in your car and off they go to cause more grief. ppl that are so stupid are half responsible for the aftermath.. preventive measures need to be heeded by society as a whole as well.no excuse.

Of the perhaps hundreds of covid advices from many different authorities I and friends received over the two year period not once did any advice include a claim that vaccines would prevent covid from spreading. Advices almost invariably claimed that vaccines would limit the severity of covid symptoms. Yes many mistakes were made during the largely unscripted pandemic response but making inaccurate claims at this stage helps no one.

Can anyone pls tell me why when people are going to Lunch/ brunch they have to take their dogs?? For gods sake can’t they leave them at

home, and not disturb other Diners. Cooly kev.

The suggestion that the uninvited or unapproved landing of the first fleet on Australian soil for the purpose of establishing a British penal colony, the subsequent dispossession and massacres, did not constitute an invasion defies belief. It is as disgraceful as suggesting there was no holocaust.

Take note Freddy Fittler. Josh AddoCarr aka The Fox, is on a try-scoring blitz at the World Cup in England, showing why he is perhaps the best rugby league winger in the world and should have been one of the first players to be picked in the most recent NSW state of Origin team. His inclusion may have been the difference between NSW winning instead of losing the series. As a Queenslander I’m happy he wasn’t included in the team.

Good On you Magda, Your Wellness program Sunday ,as a wake-up call to ALL. I’ll be watching next Sunday too.

And eating more Veg n fruit. Mums of kids all ages should watch too .9 put of 200 kids eat too much junk food!!

If these covert seat belt/mobile phone cameras are capable of what we’ve seen recently in the media, what else are they recording and capable of. Getting scarey, isn’t it Minister Bailey ? Concerned Citizen.

Australian cricketers lost again. Maybe they should stick to more training,- and leave the climate brainwashing to the “experts “- we already got enough of those nutters here. Stan, GC

It’s a no brainer! All forms of energy should be utilised to provide our burgeoning power needs. Playing one against another is a ridiculous and unrealistic exercise which only leads to grief.

Maybe the Block will get the chop after trying to sell overpriced houses. They have finally gone too far.

Sentenced to jail for ‘X’ amount of

time wholly suspended for ‘X’ amount of time. What a load of rubbish. It like waiting in an ambulance waiting for a bed to be made available. It is this type of ridiculous justice that makes our justice system the joke of the world. Don’t blame the Justices, blame the system the Government establish for them to work under. So much for separation of power. Squizz.

Sorry Dr Perkins, I’m not buying that…. So it’s our problem? I say keep the repeating juveniles locked up for good. You know what they would have done in the old days!!! So just wrap them in cotton wool and feel sorry for them??! Hmmm. Nah….. I don’t think so.

Every time the UN’s IPCC hosts a climate change meeting, the CO2 level goes up. This has happened 26 times in a row. Therefore the IPCC is either completely ineffective or all the private jets going to their meetings are causing the CO2 rise. Juss Sayen
