OFF THE RECORD

-

IT would appear that the hunt for a suitable man is reaching a new level of despair. Example number one is a notable dame who refuses to take her silver fox husband to certain functions anymore.

The reason is that when she is away from his side, others who are looking for their Mr Right waste no time in plonking themselves down beside him.

Full frontal flirting then ensues leaving the silver fox slightly embarrassed because, hard as this is to believe, he truly loves his wife.

Having endured the unwanted advances on several occasions he asked his wife if he could be excused from further female friendly gatherings until further notice.

Desperate times and all that.

CASE number two in the hunt for a man for all seasons was the very pretty young thing spotted parading around the room.

Moi, in her naiveté, asked if she was a model working for a designer. Not at all. It seems she had spotted a young man at the gathering and this was her way of enticing him over to come and chat to her.

Very cleverly she had worked out that if she was alone and palely loitering then her Prince Charming would sidle over and begin the dance of romance. Did it work?

We don’t know because we had to leave but top marks for originality and execution of a cunning plan.

THE devil is in the detail as one business owner has discovered. Having engaged a marketing team to help him promote a new initiative he was surprised by the size of the bill that was sent.

He asked for details and was told it was due to the large amount of time spent by the ‘team’ in getting out the word. Asking for further details he was sent a list of emails that were sent to various media outlets.

Knowing someone in one of those offices he made a call.

He was told that what should have been a single email outlining the planned launch was expanded into a long string of unwanted correspondence.

Instead of date, time and place it became a drip feed of information.

Naturally each email took time which was duly billed to the client.

He has now changed the marketing firm.
