Driving around Blenheim is slightly surreal. Every few hundred metres a sign proclaims yet another well-known wine label. It feels as though Glengarry Wines has come to life. Nestled between the giants are the smaller boutique wineries, important gems in a large crown.
New Zealand’s wine comes from Marlborough, and 85 per cent of that is sauvignon blanc. Not bad considering the first grapes weren’t planted until 1973. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when faced with the monumental task of visiting as many cellar doors as possible. But fear not, we have several options to help you make the most of the area.
