Rep th­ese 2 rows un­til rib meas 6cm, end­ing after row 1. Next row: P5 ( 3: 4: 11: 13: 7), *M1pw, P5 ( 6: 6: 5: 5: 6); rep from * to last 5 ( 4: 5: 11: 13: 8) sts, M1pw, P to end. 125 ( 141: 157: 173: 189: 205) sts. Change to 4mm nee­dles. Work in st st from chart as fol­lows: Carry colour not in use loosely over back of work over not more than 3 sts at a time. Row 1 (RS): Knit, read­ing from right to left work first 5 sts from row 1 of chart, now rep the 8 patt sts from row 1 of chart 15 ( 17: 19: 21: 23: 25) times across. Row 2: Purl, read­ing from left to right work the 8 patt sts from row 2 of chart 15 ( 17: 19: 21: 23: 25) times across, now work the last 5 sts from row 2 of chart. Rows 3-36: Cont as set, nd work­ing rows 3-36 of chart. Th­ese 36 rows set the pat­tern. Cont in patt un­til work meas 42cm, end­ing after a WS row.

Cast off 7 ( 9: 11: 13: 15: 17) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 111 ( 123: 135: 147: 159: 171) sts Dec 1 st at each end of ev­ery row un­til 93 ( 99: 105: 113: 119: 125) sts rem. ** Cont straight un­til Back meas 62 ( 63: 65: 66: 67: 69) cm from beg, end­ing after a WS row.

SHAPE SHOUL­DERS

Cast off 6 ( 7: 7: 8: 9: 9) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 7 ( 7: 8: 9: 8: 10) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Slip rem 55 ( 57: 61: 63: 67: 69) sts on a stitch holder and leave.

FRONT

Work as for Back to **. Work straight un­til Front meas 10 ( 10: 12: 12: 12: 13) cm from beg of armhole shap­ing, end­ing after a WS row.

SHAPE NECK

Next row: Work across 27 ( 29: 30: 33: 34: 36) sts, turn. Cont on this group of sts for left half of neck. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 5 rows, then on the 3 foll alt rows. 19 ( 21: 22: 25: 26: 28) sts. Cont straight un­til Front meas same as Back to shoul­der shap­ing, end­ing at armhole edge.

SHAPE SHOUL­DER

Cast off 6 ( 7: 7: 8: 9: 9) sts at beg of next row and foll alt row. Work 1 row straight. Cast off rem 7 ( 7: 8: 9: 8: 10) sts. With RS fac­ing, slip next 39 ( 41: 45: 47: 51: 53) sts (cen­tre sts) on a stitch holder and leave. Neatly re­join yarn to rem 27 ( 29: 30: 33: 34: 36) sts and work to end of row. Com­plete as for left half, work­ing 1 row more be­fore shap­ing shoul­der.

TO MAKE UP NECK­BAND

Join left shoul­der. Us­ing 3.25mm nee­dles and yarn A, with RS fac­ing, knit across 55 ( 57: 61: 63: 67: 69) sts from back of neck de­creas­ing 6 sts evenly across, pick up and knit 27 ( 31: 31: 32: 34: 34) sts evenly down left side of front neck, knit across 39 ( 41: 45: 47: 51: 53) sts of front neck de­creas­ing 4 sts evenly across, fi­nally pick up and knit 28 ( 32: 32: 33: 35: 35) sts

evenly up right side of neck. 139 ( 151: 159: 165: 177: 181) sts . Beg with row 2, work 6 rows in rib as on Back. Cast off in rib, work­ing firmly round the shaped cor­ners of front neck.

ARMHOLE BOR­DERS

Join right shoul­der and edges of neck­band. Us­ing 3.25mm nee­dles and yarn A, with RS fac­ing, pick up and knit 107 ( 119: 129: 139: 147: 157) sts evenly round armhole. Beg with row 2, work 6 rows in rib as on Back. Cast off in rib.

FIN­ISH­ING

Omit­ting rib­bing, press work on WS fol­low­ing any yarn care in­struc­tions on the ball band. Join side seams and armhole bor­ders. Press seams.
