“MY TRELLIS cable pattern is based on a single tile pattern of interlinke­d cables,” says Emma Vining. “The tile is repeated horizontal­ly and vertically, forming the trellis. Using different cable movements - together with texture - creates an interestin­g lower edge and cuff pattern for this cardigan. This border pattern links to the upper body pattern with long lines of textured cables emerging from the trellis.”

MAKING UP

Block gently to measuremen­ts, following any yarn care instructio­ns on the ball band. Join shoulder seams.

NECKBAND

With RS facing, using yarn B and 3.25mm needles, pick up 12 sts from front right stitch holder. Continue in establishe­d cable pattern until band, when lightly stretched, reaches centre of back neck. Cast off. Repeat for left front stitch holder. Stitch band into place across back of neck and join cast-off edges.

FINISHING

Mark centre point of sleevehead cast-off. Match this point to shoulder seam and pin sleeve in place evenly on either side of seam. Set in sleevehead. Repeat for second sleeve. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
