YOKE

Place the 10 sts of the buttonhole edging on circular needles. With RS facing and with yarn A, pick up 1 stitch for every cast-off stitch and 3 sts every 4 rows for a total of 69 ( 70: 72: 74) sts on each front, 128 ( 132: 134: 136) sts across the back, and 10 sts across both front edgings. 286 ( 292: 298: 304) sts. Use separate balls of the main colour for each of the front edgings. Keep working the front edgings in 1x1 rib and do not forget to make the buttonholes. All the other sts are worked according to chart. Twist yarns at join between front rib edging and yoke to avoid holes. On first section pattern is repeated a total of 44 ( 45: 46: 47) times, plus 2 sts for balance. Work from chart, beginning with stitch 5, working to end of row 44, while making decs as follows: Row 5 (RS dec): Rib 10, K0 ( 0: 2: 5) (K9, K2tog) 24 times, K2 ( 8: 12: 15), rib 10. 262 ( 268: 274: 280) sts. Row 35 (RS dec): Rib 10, K0 ( 0: 2: 5) (K6, K2tog) 24 times, K2 ( 8: 12: 15), rib 10. 190 ( 196: 202: 208) sts. Row 38 (WS dec): Rib 10, K0 ( 0: 2: 5) (K5, K2tog) 24 times, K2 ( 8: 12: 15), rib 10. 166 ( 172: 178: 184) sts. When chart is complete, change to 2mm needles. Work in 1x1 rib for 3.5cm, making a buttonhole after two rows and another one two rows before the cast-off. Cast off in rib.

FINISHING

Fold the neck ribbing and seam it to the inside. Make sure that the buttonholes of the neck ribbing are at exactly the same height. Set in the sleeves: start at the shoulder seam, and make sure that the centre of the sleeve cap joins at the shoulder seam. Graft all seams one stitch from the edge. Weave in ends. Block gently to measurements, following any yarn care instructions on the ball band.
