Using 4mm needles and one end of each yarn held together, cast on

Row 1 (RS): K2, *P2, K2; rep from * to end. Row 2: *P2, K2; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2. These 2 rows set 2x2 rib.

Work 8 ( 8: 8: 9: 9) cm in rib, ending with WS facing for next row.

Next row: Rib to end, dec 3 ( 1: 3: 3: 1) sts evenly across row.

83 ( 93: 103: 111: 121) sts.

Change to 4.5mm needles

Beg with a K row, work 6 rows in st st, ending with RS facing for next row.

Cont in Lace Pattern as folls:

Row 1 (RS): K2 ( 3: 2: 2: 3), *wrapping yarn twice round needle for each stitch knit next 3 sts, K1; rep from * to last 1 ( 2: 1: 1: 2) sts, K1 ( 2: 1: 1: 2).

Row 2: P1 ( 2: 1: 1: 2), *P1, slip next 3 sts to RH needle to drop extra loops, slip these 3 sts back to LH needle and working through all 3 sts at once (P1, yo, P1); rep from * to last 2 ( 3: 2: 2: 3) sts, P2 ( 3: 2: 2: 3).

Row 3: Knit.

Row 4: P1 ( 2: 1: 1: 2), *P1, wrapping yarn twice round needle for each stitch purl next 3 sts; rep from * to last 2 ( 3: 2: 2: 3) sts, P2 ( 3: 2: 2: 3).

Place markers to denote beg of armhole.

Working in st st, cont without shaping for 37 ( 41: 47: 49: 51) rows, ending with WS facing for next row.

Piece should meas 14 ( 16: 18: 19: 20) cm from marker.

Next 2 rows: Purl to last 10 ( 11: 12: 13: 14) sts, wrap next st and turn, knit to end.

Next 2 rows: Purl to 10 ( 11: 12: 13: 14) sts before last wrapped st, wrap next st and turn, knit to end.

Next 2 rows: Purl to 10 ( 11: 12: 13: 14) sts before last wrapped st, wrap next st and turn, knit to end.

CUFFS

(both alike)

Using 4mm needles and one end of each yarn held together, pick up and knit

78 ( 82: 90: 94: 98) sts along cuff edge.

Row 1 (WS): P2, *K2, P2; rep from * to end. Row 2: *K2, P2; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2. These 2 rows set 2x2 rib.

Work 7 more rows in rib as set.

Next row: K1, Sl 1, K1, psso, rib to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1. 2 sts dec’d.

Next row: Working all sts as they present themselves, patt to end.

These 2 rows set shaping.

Dec 1 st as set at each end of 5th and 2 foll 4th rows.

70 ( 74: 82: 86: 90) sts.

Cont without shaping until cuff meas 12cm, ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off in rib.

NECKBAND

With RS facing, using 4mm circular needles and one end of each yarn held together, pick up and knit 53 ( 57: 61: 63: 69) sts down left neck of Piece 2, place marker, knit 2 sts left on a safety pin, pick up and knit 54 ( 58: 61: 64: 67) sts up right neck of Piece 2, pick up and knit 49 ( 49: 51: 51: 53) sts around neck of Piece 1.

160 ( 168: 176: 182: 190) sts.

Join to work in the round.

Round 1: *K2, P2; rep from * to end.

This round sets rib.

Round 2: Rib to 2 sts before marker, K2tog, K1, Sl 1, K1, psso, rib to end. 2 sts dec’d. Round 3: Work all sts as they present themselves.

These 2 rounds set shaping.

Rep these 2 rounds 3 times, then Round 2 once more.

Cast off in rib.

FINISHING

Join side and underarm seams. Weave in ends and gently block to measuremen­ts, following any yarn care instructio­ns on the ball band.
