“THIS VINTAGE INSPIRED design has a petite shawl collar,” says Francesca Hughes. “A stripe and colourwork strip is worked from the right cuff, all the way over the shoulders and neck to the left cuff. The length can be easily modified to create an androgynous piece. It’s designed to be worn with 5-20cm (2in-8in) of positive ease.

The colour combination and the name of this jumper are based on the stunning artwork Nuit Blanche by Jean Lurçat.”

PATTERN TIPS

Use stitch markers to keep track of side seams and where shoulders should match. Read ahead to see how the garment is constructed.

Have confidence working short rows to help understand the sleeve shaping.

Use Jeny’s Stretchy Slipknot Cast-On when casting on for the sleeves, as it provides a sturdy and flexible seam. View Jeny’s video tutorial at http://bit.ly/jenysSSKco
