Beef exhibitor prepares
THE Tinks will burn some midnight oil on their journey to Beef Australia 2018.
They chose to make the long drive overnight for the comfort of their cattle.
“We will leave about 7pm. There is less traffic on the road and it’s cooler for the cattle,” Colin Tink said.
The cattle are spelled in Condamine, then arrive a couple days early so they have time to adjust to their new surroundings before competition.
“We have friends at Gracemere so we will spend a few days with them there.”
Although Mr Tink didn’t put a price on how much a show trip cost, he said it was a “reasonable amount”.
“By the time you think about the fuel there and back, accommodation... and we are drought declared at Dubbo so we are currently feeding every single animal, so we need to get someone in to look after our place.”
It’s dedication to get from Dubbo to Beef Australia 2018 in Rockhampton, but Colin believes it is well worth it.
“Lyn is with me, so we make it a family trip,” he said.
