Billy Raymont and Anton jumped the only double clear round to claim the World Cup qualifier at the Sale and District Showjumping Club’s Elms Showjumping Championships at the weekend.
Five combinations jumped clear in the first round of the technical Gavin Chester-designed track in difficult conditions and were invited for the second round, along with seven combinations on four faults. Clay Simmonds, 18, riding Oaks Castanza in his first World Cup start, took the lead after an extremely fast second round. He looked the winner until Raymont jumped double clear to win, claim the $1000 double clear bonus and relegate Simmonds to second place.
New Zealand rider Katie Laurie rode Cera Caruso to win the Mini Prix ahead of Aaron Harlow riding Twins Easton VDL.
