A 78-YEAR-OLD woman who was left to raise five chil­dren when she was wid­owed in her 30s has been named NSW Mother of the Year af­ter giv­ing more than 50 fos­ter kids a home, while work­ing two jobs.

For the past four decades, Noe­lene Lever has pro­vided a haven for chil­dren in need.

Ms Lever, from Forster, was yes­ter­day named NSW Barnar­dos Mother of the Year, hon­oured for her life­long com­mit­ment to car­ing for chil­dren.

“There is no way I could let a child go with­out,” she said in a state­ment.
