Time for talk is over
THE time for talking about cleaning up the Richmond River is over.
In the past 30 years there have been at least 26 reports identifying the poor condition of the Richmond River and setting out plans to improve it and yet it still has a D-grade rating.
There have also been three major fish kills since 2001, two of which resulted in closing the river for fishing.
That’s a regional disgrace we should all resolve to do something about.
All those reports, reccommendations and plans need to be overseen by an authority whose sole task is to tackle its clean-up.
