Thou­sands of trees up for grabs

THOU­SANDS of koala food trees will be given away next month as Som­er­set Re­gional Coun­cil hold a free tree day.

The pro­mo­tion will be held in the court­yard of the Simeon Lord Room near the Esk Li­brary on Heap St on Sat­ur­day, Fe­bru­ary 9.

Park­ing will be avail­able in the li­brary carpark and res­i­dents will need to bring their own boxes or bags to trans­port the trees.

The trees will be dis­trib­uted be­tween 8am-noon and will be avail­able on a first-in, best­dressed sce­nario.

Doc­u­men­ta­tion and/or photo iden­ti­fi­ca­tion will need to be pro­vided with a Som­er­set ad­dress.

Som­er­set Re­gional Coun­cil Mayor Graeme Lehmann said this free tree event was be­ing held to com­ple­ment nu­mer­ous coun­cil ini­tia­tives that tar­geted en­vi­ron­men­tal aware­ness.

There will other na­tive trees and shrubs avail­able.
