Jail the best place for rotten driver

MY COMMENT

The Queensland Times - - OPINION - SHANNON NEWLEY [email protected]

THE only answer for people like Kelvin Roma (page 3) is to do time behind bars.

As much time as possible. People with such little respect for the law can’t be kept off the roads any other way.

Not only does he have the gall to get back behind the wheel after being disqualified many times, he then drives dangerously when he spots the police.

And who knows what other shocking behaviour he is committing behind the wheel and never getting caught for.

The only way the public and other road users can be protected from people like this is to have them behind bars.

Unfortunately he’ll be out on the streets again in a few months and based on the precedent set by him in in the past, I question what change to his behaviour we expect.

The best we can probably hope for is that this stint in prison is enough of a deterrent to do what previous punishments have failed at and keep him off the road.
