Nominations for the 2018 NSW Grandparent of the Year Local and State Awards, which celebrate the valuable contributions grandparents and seniors make to their families and communities, are now open.

‘‘This is our opportunity to showcase the selfless seniors of Murray and show our appreciation for their hard work volunteering, sharing their knowledge and wisdom, as well as supporting their families,’’ Mr Evans said.

Meanwhile, amateur and professional photographers alike are urged to spend some time with their grandparents and snap a photo of them in their everyday life for the Grandparents Day Photography Competition.

‘‘I encourage budding photographers in Murray to grab their phone or camera and pay a visit to their grandparents to make memories that will last a lifetime,’’ he said.
